About RMH Baltimore
RMH Baltimore is a small, independent informational guide to studying in, staying in and getting around Baltimore’s university district. It is published from Charles Village by RMH Baltimore Editorial Guide LLC and edited by Eleanor Vance-Sterling.
What we are, and what we are not
rmhbaltimore.com is an independent Baltimore informational publication and study-planning resource. It is not a charity, it is not a lodging operator, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Ronald McDonald House Charities or any Ronald McDonald House.
We say this plainly at the top of every page because our domain name might lead someone to expect something we are not. We do not provide rooms, beds, meals, shuttles or any service to families. We do not raise money. Nothing you read here is a referral to, or on behalf of, any charitable organization.
If your family needs somewhere to stay while a child is in hospital treatment in Baltimore, please contact Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland directly, or ask the hospital’s social work or patient-family services team. They can refer you, and they will know what is available this week. We can’t.
What we cover
- Graduate and pre-law study planning: LSAT and MCAT methods, twelve-week schedules and the habits that move a score.
- Study-room ergonomics: lighting, glare, sound and the small changes that make a desk usable for hours.
- Visiting-family logistics: transit along the Charles Street corridor, honest budgets for stays of a few days to six weeks, and quiet places to read.
- University-district seminar notes: plain-English write-ups of the botany, materials science, development and design topics that fill Baltimore lecture halls each semester.
The editor
Eleanor Vance-Sterling has lived in Charles Village for more than a decade and spent much of that time helping students plan their way through admissions tests, theses and long research years. Eleanor edits every guide on this site, checks every number in the planner, and personally answers the editorial mailbox.
How we work
We write from public sources, our own visits, and the questions readers send us. When we give a fare, a rate or a timetable interval, we treat it as a planning figure and tell you to confirm it, because Baltimore transit schedules and hotel prices move. We do not accept payment to include or rank a library, a neighborhood or a study method. When a guide mentions an outside service, such as tutoring, it is because readers ask us how to choose one.
Our seminar notes summarize research and practice for a general reader. They are not medical, legal or financial advice, and we say so where it matters.
